Service Description
PingLearn is an AI-powered voice tutoring platform for students in grades 6-12 following the Indian curriculum (CBSE/NCERT). Students interact with an AI tutor via real-time voice conversation to learn subjects including Mathematics, Science, English, Hindi, and Social Science.
The service includes:
- •Real-time voice tutoring sessions with an AI tutor powered by Google Gemini
- •AI-generated session notes and learning summaries
- •Progress tracking, streaks, and learning milestones
- •Session summaries delivered to linked parent email addresses
- •Teacher tools for managing student accounts and class progress
Eligibility and Age Requirements
PingLearn is available to students in grades 6-12. The following age-based rules apply:
Under 18 (DPDP Act Protected)
Students under 18 must have verifiable parental consent before creating an account. A parent or guardian must provide their email address, and we will send a consent verification email. The account is not activated until consent is confirmed. This is required by law (India's DPDP Act 2023 and US COPPA) and enforced technically.
Age 18+
Students aged 18 and older can create accounts independently. Adding a parent email is optional but recommended for progress tracking.
Providing false age information to circumvent these requirements is a violation of these Terms and may result in immediate account termination.
Parent and Guardian Responsibilities
By providing parental consent for your child to use PingLearn, you agree to the following responsibilities:
- •Consent accuracy: You confirm you are the child's parent or legal guardian and have authority to consent on their behalf.
- •Monitoring: You take responsibility for periodically reviewing your child's use of PingLearn, including session notes and progress reports delivered to your email.
- •Information accuracy: You ensure that the information provided during signup (child's name, grade, school) is accurate.
- •Appropriate use: You ensure your child uses PingLearn for educational purposes only and in accordance with these Terms.
- •Consent revocation: If you wish to revoke consent, you can do so via Settings > Consent or by contacting privacy@pinglearn.com. Revocation will suspend the account.
- •AI content awareness: You understand that PingLearn uses AI to generate tutoring responses and session notes. While we align to the NCERT curriculum, AI responses are not a substitute for qualified human educators for critical academic decisions.
Teacher Responsibilities
Teachers who create teacher accounts and manage student accounts agree to the following:
- •Account accuracy: You are responsible for the accuracy of all student account information you create or manage, including names, grades, and school details.
- •Authorization: You must not create accounts for students without the explicit knowledge and consent of those students and their parents/guardians.
- •Parental consent: For students under 18, you are responsible for ensuring that parental consent is obtained before adding students to your class or creating accounts on their behalf.
- •Educational use only: Teacher accounts and class management features must only be used for legitimate educational purposes with students enrolled in your class.
- •Institutional compliance: You are responsible for ensuring your use of PingLearn complies with your school or institution's data protection policies.
- •Accountability: Misuse of teacher privileges — including unauthorized access to student data or creating accounts for unauthorized students — may result in account termination and notification to your institution.
Acceptable Use Policy
PingLearn is an educational service. You agree to use it for educational purposes only. The following are prohibited:
Violations of this policy may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund.
AI Disclaimer
Important: AI-Generated Content
PingLearn uses Google Gemini AI to generate tutoring responses, explanations, and session notes. While the AI is trained on and aligned to the NCERT curriculum for Indian grades 6-12 education, AI responses are generated probabilistically and may occasionally contain errors, oversimplifications, or imprecisions.
Parents and teachers should:
- •Review session notes periodically to verify the accuracy of content covered
- •Not rely solely on PingLearn for critical academic decisions (exam preparation strategies, medical or legal content in curriculum, etc.)
- •Consult qualified human educators when the stakes are high
PingLearn is a supplemental learning tool, not a replacement for classroom instruction or qualified human tutoring. The AI tutor is designed to guide students through Socratic questioning and explanation, encouraging understanding rather than just providing answers.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PingLearn and its operators are not liable for:
- •Learning outcomes, academic results, exam performance, or any educational consequences arising from use of the service
- •Errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in AI-generated tutoring content or session notes
- •Service interruptions or data loss arising from outages of third-party providers (Supabase, LiveKit, Google, Vercel, Upstash)
- •Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- •Loss of data due to user error, account deletion, or account inactivity
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service is limited to the greater of: (a) the amount paid by you to PingLearn in the 3 months preceding the claim, or (b) INR 500.
Intellectual Property
PingLearn owns all rights to the PingLearn platform, including the software, AI tutoring system, user interface, design, and brand assets. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for your personal educational use.
Curriculum content is aligned to NCERT/CBSE textbooks, which are published by the Government of India and are in the public domain. Our use of this curriculum content for educational purposes falls within the scope of educational fair use.
Session notes generated by the AI tutor during your sessions are made available to you for your personal educational use. You may download and retain these notes. You may not redistribute or commercially exploit AI-generated session notes.
You retain ownership of any content you explicitly upload or create on the platform (e.g., custom notes). By using PingLearn, you grant us a license to store and display your content to provide the service.
Accounts and Termination
You can delete your account at any time via Settings > Privacy > Delete Account. Account deletion permanently removes all your data from our systems within 5 business days.
PingLearn reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that:
- •Violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy
- •Have parental consent revoked (for students under 18)
- •Are determined to have been created with false information
- •Have been inactive for more than 12 months (we will notify you before deletion)
Upon termination for policy violations, we may retain records of the violation for legal compliance purposes, even if the account is deleted.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of PingLearn will be resolved under Indian law in courts of competent jurisdiction in India.
For users in the United States: we also comply with applicable US federal law including COPPA. US-specific disputes may be subject to US federal jurisdiction for COPPA-related matters.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect and will update the effective date.
For minor changes (grammar corrections, clarifications that do not change rights or obligations), we may update without advance notice.
Continued use of PingLearn after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those Terms.
